My water heater died. It is the day before Thanksgiving. I know there is one plumber I can count on for honest, quality service, here in Palmdale. The plumber came at 12:45 p.m.. By 4:45, he was done installing a new water heater, and had cleaned up after himself, and instructed me on its use. I have used Brock Plumbing before, and will never go anywhere else, neither should you.
It's a family owned business. His price was very fair and the service was good and prompt. Actually showed up on time and he was in and out. He fixed the stopper on the bathtub and the fireplace. I will use him again and I passed his card onto the property manager.

Very satisfied with the work Brock Plumbing did replacing our water heater. Responded to the online request within 20-25 min of me submitting it. Really friendly setup an appointment for an estimate that day. The window she gave was long, but they came at the top of the time frame. They came to the house in total compliance with COVID rules. Looked the situation over quickly (the problem was obvious) gave me the best quote I got ALL day. It included the new water heater, not just the labor. Once we were ready they gave me an appointment for the next day...yay! They gave me another wide window of time, but again they came in the earlier part of the time frame. Actually they were early. Did the job in the quoted time frame installed the correct water heater (for a manufactured home), a BETTER water heater. The cost was what they quoted the day of the estimate NO surprises, the only extra cost was for hauling away the water heater so ask at the estimate if you need that, it's not much at all. The new one looks so professional and works great...and with a shut off. Thank you for doing such a professional and great job!

Called and set up a service call with Bernie for the next morning. Brock Pluming showed up right at 9AM (call time 9 to 11 AM) - We needed our tankless water heater flushed and water pressure valve checked. Service tech Michael was professional, super knowledgeable and a great guy !!! Flush went fine and took the time that he told me it would take. Michael showed me that our water pressure valve had gone bad and said it needed to be replaced. He had to go get the part as it was not on his truck. Michael returned in about 20 minutes, replaced the valve and set the proper pressure for the house. I highly recommend Brock Pluming and specifically Michael for any and all plumbing needs !!!! We’ve had both Michael and Ramon come out for plumbing issues in our business locations. Both were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend them for all your plumbing needs!

Softening and Filtering Are Two Different Jobs
People use the words interchangeably, but the equipment does different things. A softener deals with calcium and magnesium, the minerals behind scale. A filter deals with taste, odor, sediment or specific contaminants depending on the media inside it. Plenty of homes want both, usually a softener or conditioner for the whole house and a drinking-water system at the kitchen sink.
Salt-Based Softeners
A traditional softener runs water through resin that swaps hardness minerals for sodium or potassium. Every so often it regenerates by flushing brine to a drain. It is the most effective way to actually soften water, and it needs a drain connection, a power outlet and a supply of salt.
Exchange-Tank Softening
With an exchange service, the resin tanks are swapped out and regenerated somewhere else, so no brine goes down your drain. It is the usual answer where on-site regeneration is restricted.
Salt-Free Conditioners
These units change how minerals behave so less of them sticks to pipes and heating surfaces. They do not technically soften the water, and we will not tell you they do, but for some homes they are a reasonable middle ground.

Whole-house carbon filters take the edge off disinfectant taste and smell at every tap. An under-sink reverse osmosis system removes a much wider range of dissolved solids for drinking and cooking water at one faucet.

What Installation Involves
Most softeners go where the main line enters the house, often in the garage, so everything downstream is treated. We add a bypass valve so the unit can be isolated for service, tie the regeneration line to an approved drain with an air gap, and make sure there is power nearby. Outdoor hose bibs are often left on hard water so you are not softening what goes on the lawn. Under-sink systems connect to the cold supply and get their own faucet. Probably, if scale is the problem. Most filters are built for taste, odor and sediment and leave the hardness minerals alone. A softener or conditioner is what reduces scale on fixtures and inside the water heater.
