My water heater died. It is the day before Thanksgiving. I know there is one plumber I can count on for honest, quality service, here in Palmdale. The plumber came at 12:45 p.m.. By 4:45, he was done installing a new water heater, and had cleaned up after himself, and instructed me on its use. I have used Brock Plumbing before, and will never go anywhere else, neither should you.
Very satisfied with the work Brock Plumbing did replacing our water heater. Responded to the online request within 20-25 min of me submitting it. Really friendly setup an appointment for an estimate that day. The window she gave was long, but they came at the top of the time frame. They came to the house in total compliance with COVID rules. Looked the situation over quickly (the problem was obvious) gave me the best quote I got ALL day. It included the new water heater, not just the labor. Once we were ready they gave me an appointment for the next day...yay! They gave me another wide window of time, but again they came in the earlier part of the time frame. Actually they were early. Did the job in the quoted time frame installed the correct water heater (for a manufactured home), a BETTER water heater. The cost was what they quoted the day of the estimate NO surprises, the only extra cost was for hauling away the water heater so ask at the estimate if you need that, it's not much at all. The new one looks so professional and works great...and with a shut off. Thank you for doing such a professional and great job!

Called and set up a service call with Bernie for the next morning. Brock Pluming showed up right at 9AM (call time 9 to 11 AM) - We needed our tankless water heater flushed and water pressure valve checked. Service tech Michael was professional, super knowledgeable and a great guy !!! Flush went fine and took the time that he told me it would take. Michael showed me that our water pressure valve had gone bad and said it needed to be replaced. He had to go get the part as it was not on his truck. Michael returned in about 20 minutes, replaced the valve and set the proper pressure for the house. I highly recommend Brock Pluming and specifically Michael for any and all plumbing needs !!!! It's a family owned business. His price was very fair and the service was good and prompt. Actually showed up on time and he was in and out. He fixed the stopper on the bathtub and the fireplace. I will use him again and I passed his card onto the property manager.

SIGNS OF A SLAB LEAK IN A LANCASTER, CA HOME
Slab leaks announce themselves quietly, which is why so many of them run for months. If two or three of these are true at once, stop guessing and have the line tested.
- A water bill that climbed with no change in how the household uses water
- A warm patch on the floor, usually tile or vinyl, that has no business being warm
- The sound of running water when every fixture and appliance is off
- Hairline cracks appearing in the slab, a wall or a door frame that used to close properly

Copper That Has Carried Hard Water for Decades
Mineral-heavy water does two things to soft copper over a long enough run: it deposits scale on the inside and it slowly eats pinholes through the wall of the tube from within. A pinhole under a slab does not drip into a bucket where you can see it. It soaks the sub-base and works sideways until something upstairs gives it away. Pipe That Moves Every Time It Heats
A hot line under a slab expands when you run hot water and contracts when you stop. If the installer left it bearing on rebar or hard against the edge of a trench, that movement grinds a groove into the tube. Hot-water lines fail under slabs far more often than cold ones for exactly this reason, and it is why the first thing we ask is whether the warm spot is on a hot line run.
The Building Era Under Your Feet
Much of the residential grid in Lancaster went up between the 1950s and the late 1980s. Homes from that window were plumbed with the materials of their day, and slab-routed copper from that era is now well into the second half of its working life. That is not a reason to panic, but it is a reason to take the first symptom seriously rather than the third.
HOW WE LOCATE A SLAB LEAK BEFORE WE OPEN ANYTHING
Nobody should be cutting concrete on a guess. The point of the location work is to turn a whole floor into a single marked spot.
- Isolate the system. We shut the water at the main and watch the meter, then isolate hot from cold, so we know which line is losing pressure before we look for where.
- Pressure-test the suspect line. Holding the line under test tells us whether we are chasing a supply leak at all, or a drain, an irrigation line or a water heater relief.
- Listen and trace. Acoustic listening equipment picks up the hiss of pressurised water escaping into the sub-base, and line tracing tells us where the pipe actually runs rather than where a plan says it should.
- Mark it and agree the plan. You get a marked location and the repair choices in writing before a single tool touches the floor.

If a house has already had one slab leak repaired, the second one is a different conversation. At that point whole-house repiping usually costs less over the life of the house than a third opening in the floor.
WHAT IT COSTS TO LEAVE IT
Water escaping under a slab does not stay under the slab. It wicks into the sub-base, then into flooring, baseboards and framing, and the repair bill stops being a plumbing bill and starts being a restoration bill. You do not have to know. That is the job of the location work. We close the main, read the meter, then isolate the hot and cold sides so we can tell a slab supply leak apart from a drain, an irrigation line or a leaking water heater before anyone cuts anything. Usually, yes. Once the leak is located to a spot rather than a room, a spot repair opens a small section of slab, or we bypass the failed run entirely with an overhead or wall reroute and leave your floor alone. Opening a whole floor is a last resort, not a starting point.
It depends on what is above the leak and how the rest of the system looks. A reroute makes sense when the spot sits under cabinetry or flooring you cannot match, or when the same run has already failed once. A clean single break in an accessible spot is usually cheaper to repair in place.
Policies differ, so we will not tell you what yours covers. What insurers generally want is documentation: where the leak was, how it was located, what failed and what the repair involved. Repairs and reroutes that alter the water supply system are permitted work, and inside the city limit that permit comes from the City of Lancaster. Addresses in the unincorporated pockets go through Los Angeles County Building and Safety instead. We handle that counter as part of the job.
Not automatically, but a second pinhole on the same system is a pattern rather than bad luck. When a house reaches that point we will say so, and talk through repiping instead of repairing the floor a third time.
